Our mission comes to life in practice. Municipalities use Welcome app to guide newcomers more effectively. Organisations share their activities with the right audience. And newcomers find reliable information in their own language, helping them make independent choices and feel at home more quickly.

To demonstrate what this achieves, we measure our impact carefully through our Theory of Change and Welcome app Impact Measurement & Management (IMM) Framework. These frameworks outline how our activities lead to tangible results, such as greater self-reliance among newcomers and reduced workload for municipal professionals.

GOVERNANCE

Responsible business with impact

We’re building an organisation that works in an open, honest and forward-looking way. We actively discuss our mission and impact with municipalities, organisations, investors and users. This helps us stay sharp and ensures that every decision we make contributes to what truly matters.

Our financial policy is focused on social value. At least 30% of our annual profit is reserved for impact, in the form of an impact reserve. This means that a maximum of 70% can be distributed to shareholders, keeping our growth in balance with our mission.

We follow a remuneration policy that reflects our social values. We adhere to the WNT standard, base our salary structure on the Social Work Collective Labour Agreement, and maintain a fair ratio between the lowest and highest salaries. This ensures that appreciation, fairness and social responsibility go hand in hand within our organisation.

From foundation to social enterprise

Welcome app originated from Stichting Welcome app Nederland, founded in 2016 (then known as Blendin) with one mission: to help newcomer feel at home. What began as an initiative to connect people with and without a migration background grew into a national platform in 2020, supporting newcomers with accessible information, local activities and meaningful connections.

Since 2024, the platform and all activities have been operated by Welcome app B.V., our social enterprise. The foundation, which holds ANBI (public benefit) status, remains a shareholder and ensures that our social mission stays at the heart of everything we do. The same passion that fuelled the foundation continues to guide our daily work: building connection, independence and equal opportunities for everyone.
