This Privacy Statement has been drafted for and by the Welcome app Netherlands Foundation (hereinafter Welcome app), located at Panamalaan 6b, 1019AZ, Amsterdam and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 66011310.

Welcome app is responsible for processing your (personal) data. We care about your privacy. We therefore attach great importance to careful and secure handling of data from our clients, employees, suppliers and visitors to our website. We only process your data if necessary and if there is a legal basis for this with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have also taken technical and organizational measures to prevent your data from falling into the wrong hands or being lost.

In this statement you will find information about what we do with your data and what your rights are.

1. Which personal data does Welcome app process?

That depends on what relationship you have with us. When you visit our website, we process different data than when you use the app or the web app. All data we collect is held within the boundaries of the EEA.

1.1 Website, email and socials

The data that we can collect when visiting our website or socials are:

  • Name and email address
  • Submissions via our web form
  • Website visit and click behaviour
  • IP address
  • Duration and time of the visit to the website
  • Interaction with social media from Welcome app

If you contact us, for example via email, social media or by telephone, we may ask you for contact details. We do this to be able to handle your question or complaint and to be able to approach you later with additional information. Your data is only accessible to those within the organization who are involved in handling your question or complaint. When you ask us a question via a form, for example, we process your personal data.

We use various ICT resources, such as e-mail, to communicate with each other and with you. We keep a history of this as long as it is relevant for follow-up, accountability and security.

1.2 Welcome app user profile

We process personal data to enable use of our platform. This may include the following information:

  • First and last name
  • Naam
  • Email address
  • Residence/place of business
  • Municipality you are in
  • Gender (with option “I prefer not to share”)
  • Year of Birth
  • Country of origin (with option “I prefer not to share”)
  • Type of user (newcomer / local / organization)
  • Taal
  • Information We Collect Automatically:
  • Browser information such as type, version, language settings
  • Device settings such as device type and OS
  • Usage information such as number and other generic information about your use of the web application

1.3 Donors

If you make a donation via the Welcome app website or via another route, we will process the following personal data:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Account number
  • Amount Donated
  • Company Name

In addition, after a donation you will receive news about Welcome app at the e-mail address that you entered yourself. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.

1.4 Purposes of the processing operations

When using our services, we process personal data from and about you. We do this for the following purposes:

  • To operate the service, such as recommending activities based on your preferences and characteristics
  • To analyze the activity of our users so that we can improve our service. For the analysis, we only look at anonymous behavior and what groups of users do. We do not look at individual users
  • To make trends and challenges of our users transparent for our partners. Here too, we look at anonymous behavior and what groups of users do, without zooming in on individual users

In addition, cookies are placed in your browser when you use our services. This only concerns functional and analytical cookies for which no permission is required.

2. Share with third parties

We do not just pass on your data to third parties. Your data will never be used for commercial or monitoring purposes. Your personal data may be shared with the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers: Services that are used to make the service possible, such as our hosting provider, database provider, payment provider for a donation, accountant and user support provider.
  • Law enforcement authorities: In the event of a legal request, we are obliged to share personal data with the relevant authorities. This will only be done if there is a legal basis for it.
  • Welcome app entities: Personal data is shared within the various entities that are part of Welcome app, such as the Welcome app B.V.

For all parties with whom personal data is shared, the personal data is not stored outside the EEA. In addition, Welcome app only works with partners and services that take sufficient technical and organizational measures to process personal data in line with legal requirements as described in the GDPR.

3. Retention period

We retain personal information on our servers, in our databases and our archives for as long as necessary to provide our services. We may retain some of your information for a longer period of time to comply with our legal obligations.

4. Rights of data subjects

If you want more information about how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at info@welcomeapp.nl. There is no automated decision-making or profiling within the services that Welcome app provides. As a user of the Welcome app services, you have the right to:

  • Inspect which personal data we have recorded about you
  • To have your personal data changed or removed
  • Request a restriction on the processing of your personal data
  • To object. If you object to the processing of your personal data that we deem necessary, this may have consequences for the way in which we can perform our services

With regard to all rights of those involved, you may expect Welcome app to realize these within the statutory period of one month, unless there is good reason to qualify for a one-off extension of this period by two months.

As a user, if you suspect Welcome app of having violated your privacy, you may submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. Dutch law applies here.

5. Changes to the Privacy Statement

We reserve the right to make changes to or update this Privacy Statement at any time. The most recent version of the Privacy Statement will be published with date on the website of the Welcome app Foundation. If you do not agree with the content of the Privacy Statement, you cannot use the services of Welcome app. By using the services of Welcome app, you agree to the content of the Privacy Statement.
