What is Welcome app?
Imagine: you are trying to build a new life in a foreign country – from scratch. Where do you start? Information is not easily accessible, you don’t speak the language yet and you don’t know how to connect with new people. Many newcomers (asylum seekers, status holders, Ukrainians) in the Netherlands face this challenge.
Welcome app makes building such a new life easier. We do this by making relevant information, activities, services and local organizations accessible in one place: the Welcome app. In this way, Welcome app supports municipalities in carrying out their tasks effectively and offers organizations a platform to reach newcomers. Our technology supports integration, participation, self-direction and equal access to opportunities.
Who are we looking for?
As a social media & content creation intern, you will be the driver of our communication towards newcomers – the end users of the Welcome app. You will devise smart, creative and target group focused campaigns to reach, activate and engage them.
You combine a strategic eye with a hands-on mentality. You feel at home in online communities and constantly think about what really appeals to our target group. You will work closely with the product team and your colleagues in the Go to Market team and get a lot of space to shape your own role.
What will you be doing?
- Campaigns & activation: Together with your colleagues, you will execute campaigns that activate newcomers to use the app – both online and offline.
- Content creation: You’ll contribute inspiring, informative and inclusive content (text, visuals, video), and know how to incorporate our tone of voice into it well.
- Social media: You create and plan content on Instagram, Facebook and other platforms – and experiment with new channels (such as TikTok).
- Community building: You manage and activate our Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook groups, and know how to build a sense of belonging.
- Influencer & peer marketing: You spot and approach role models within the community of newcomers for collaborations and content.
- Onboarding & in-app communication: You’ll think about push notifications, in-app notifications and personalized onboarding flows.
- Data & insights: You’ll support monitoring engagement data and translate it into optimization of our campaigns.
What are we looking for?
- You have experience or strong affinity with digital marketing, social media and community engagement.
- You know how to tailor communications to diverse audiences, and have an eye for cultural sensitivity and inclusion.
- You are proactive, creative and can work independently within a dynamic team.
- You have experience with tools such as Canva, and can work well visually and textually and understand how to adapt your message to different audiences.
- You have a good command of Dutch and English – other languages are an advantage, especially if you have a newcomer background.
- You are enthusiastic about the mission of Welcome app and feel committed to the goal: a society where everyone can participate.
