You’ll play a central role in organizing events that bring together newcomers and locals in different cities, fostering connection, cultural exchange, and inclusivity.
What is Welcome app?
Imagine arriving in a new country and trying to start your life from scratch. Where do you find information? How do you meet new people? Welcome app helps newcomers build their new lives by connecting them with local organizations, activities, and communities through our platform. We currently work with 5 municipalities, including Leiden and Almere, and our ambition is to expand to 65 Dutch municipalities in the coming years. Events play a vital role in our mission. By creating spaces where newcomers and locals can meet, celebrate, and share their traditions, we help build bridges between communities.
What will you do?
As an Event Organizer / Community Builder, you will take the lead in organizing and promoting community events in different cities we are operating. These events aim to connect newcomers and locals, celebrate cultural diversity, and foster meaningful relationships.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Organizing events: Plan, coordinate, and execute events such as cultural celebrations, storytelling evenings, work events, art, food festivals, and other activities that bring people together.
- Engaging communities: Collaborate with newcomers and local residents to co-create events that reflect their needs, interests, and cultures. You’ll ensure that the events are inclusive and meaningful for all participants.
- Building partnerships: Work with local organizations, municipalities, and community leaders to gain support for events and involve them in the planning process.
- Promoting events: Create awareness about events through social media, local networks, and the Welcome app platform to ensure maximum participation.
- Event reporting and feedback: Collect feedback after events to measure impact, improve future activities, and report results to stakeholders such as municipalities and partner organizations.
Who are we looking for?
You’re a creative and proactive person who loves connecting with people and building relationships. You thrive in organizing events, are detail-oriented, and enjoy working in multicultural environments.
Additional requirements:
- Interested in event planning, organizing, or community engagement.
- Passionate about fostering cultural connections and inclusivity.
- Strong communication skills in Dutch or English (B2 level or higher).
- Availability to work 8–32 hours per week, with a flexible schedule.
- Based in or willing to travel to different cities in the Netherlands.
