Welcome app is hiring a new Director per September 2023

As of September 1, 2023, Welcome app is looking for a new enthusiastic Director with a strong social drive and experience in scaling tech organizations. Someone who combines day-to-day management of the organization with an innovative vision. The Director forms the management team of Welcome app together with the Head of Operations and Product Owner. He/she focuses on the long-term growth strategy, raising funding and closing deals with municipalities. The Director is also responsible for P&L and cash flow.

About Welcome app

To build a new life in a foreign country without knowing where to start. The correct information is not easy to find and making new contacts seems impossible. Lots of people in the Netherlands and Europe are facing this challenge. Welcome app is here for them. Our platform makes local organizations, activities, and information visible and accessible in one place. So newcomers can more easily build a new life and feel welcome in their new country. We do this by collaborating with many different parties: municipalities, companies, and other (social) organizations. Without these collaborations, we are nowhere, because integration is something we do together.

Currently, Welcome app is working with five different municipalities in the Netherlands: Venlo, Tilburg, Dordrecht, Leiden, and Almere. The ambition is to grow to 65 municipalities in the Netherlands in three years to build a sustainable model and scale up our impact. In addition, a pilot in Athens is planned for 2024 for which funding has already been committed. Our team consists of ambitious, young people eager to work towards a more inclusive world in the brand-new office at Keizersgracht 177 in Amsterdam.

About the role

  • You will, in consultation with the team, shape the organization’s multi-year strategic and business direction. And convert this into (annual) plans.
  • You are responsible for the financial and organizational operations.
  • You are responsible for raising funding and obtaining orders from municipalities.
  • You represent the organization with: strategic partners, financiers, the press, etc.
  • You are a sparring partner for the development and elaboration of the product roadmap: you guard the bigger picture.
  • You inform and report to the Supervisory Board of the organization.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a strong intrinsic motivation to change the integration landscape and a passion for our mission
  • You are businesslike, analytical, and strategic, but you are also open to the continuously changing context to which you respond in a creative and flexible way.
  • You have experience raising funding and have an entrepreneurial nature with an understanding of business development to strengthen our revenue model.
  • You have experience in building a tech platform with multiple stakeholders.
  • You have excellent communication (English and Dutch) and social skills.
  • You have multi-year experience in inspiring and effective leadership.
  • You are a team player with a clear vision on equality and experience working within an inclusive and diverse team.
  • You have experience (financially) managing organization(s) in the tech sector.
  • You have experience in scaling up an organization(s).
  • A migration background is a plus.
